Dorothy P. Ely Carroll-Summerville

Dorothy P. Ely Carroll, 80, of Summerville, widow of Lewis E. Carroll (the love of her life), died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at her residence.

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 10 o’clock at Old Fort Baptist Church, 10505 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Entombment will follow in Dorchester Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 o’clock on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Ste. 504, North Charleston, SC 29406 or Agape Hospice, 9301 Medical Plaza Drive, North Charleston, SC 29406.

Dorothy was born March 22, 1932 in Kings Lynn, England daughter of the late Frederick Ely and Dorothy Louise Hart Ely. She was a graduate of Gaywood Schools of England. Dorothy was a homemaker that loved her children and grandchildren. Clearly she was a great seamstress, loved to read and bird watch. She was a member of Old Fort Baptist Church, a Christian who loved God and enjoyed going to her Sunday School Class and Bible Study Classes and loved all her sweet friends that were there with her.

Survivors include two daughters and one son; Lou-Ann Irick (Todd) of Summerville, Renee Manning (Keith) of Summerville and Timothy Carroll (Sarah) of Summerville, five grandchildren; Sarah Verch, T.J. Irick, McKenna Irick, Jordan Manning and Ely Virginia Carroll and two brothers; Eddie Ely of Kings Lynn, England and Joe Ely of Huntstanton, England.
