Mary Eloise Hallex

Eloise D. Hallex, widow of William Lewis Hallex, passed on to eternal life January 19, 2014 surrounded by her loving and devoted family

Friends and family may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock PM. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Ravenel, 5987 SC Highway 165, Ravenel on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 1 o’clock PM. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Ravenel Cemetery.

Born September 3, 1922 in Islandton, SC she was the daughter of Thomas Robert and Flossie Kinard Dempsey. Eloise graduated from Walterboro High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Ravenel. She was a homemaker. She resided at Ashley Park Retirement Community, Charleston, SC.

Surviving are Daughters Virginia Moore and Joyce Myers (Billy) both of Charleston, Sons Charles (Linda) of Edisto Island and Tom (Dobie) of Charleston, Grandchildren Lenny Smoak, Wendy Isaacson, Angie Davison, Susan High (Wesley), Chris Myers, Cole Gunter (Amanda), Chad Gunter and Jacob Hallex, Great-Grandchildren Anthony Thomson, Kelsi Isaacson, Daniel High, Kaytlynne McCord and Royal Gunter. Also surviving are 4 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased in death by Son Timothy Hallex, Grandson Ricky Smoak, a Sister Rose Thomas and brothers Ray, Leroy, Howard, Gene Dempsey and stepfather, Joseph Perretta.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to NHC Home Health Care and the staff of Lutheran Hopice for their kind and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to S.C. Commission for the Blind, Fairfield Office Park, 1064 Gardner Rd., Suite 109, Charleston, SC 29407 or Adnah Methodist Church Cemetary Fund c/o Mrs. Jackie Smoak, 124 Hiers Corner Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
