James Wilson " Jimmy " Mills

On April 25, 2023 James Wilson Mills got on board the most spectacular train ride of his life. His family, filled with bittersweet joy, was with him while he prepared for the journey. His itinerary for this once in a lifetime vacation starts with being greeted by his Almighty Maker, who will take him to the home of his mother and father, Ed and Ethel Mills. There will be a dinner celebration for his arrival that will be prepared by Ethel. The menu will consist of mouth watering savory fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, string beans, buttermilk biscuits and sweet tea. Reuniting with him for this occasion will be his brothers: Bobby, Jack and Randy. After the meal, the men will go to another room to enjoy some conversation. He will later get a good night's rest, as it was a very tiring journey before boarding the train. The following morning his brothers will pick him up and take him to a very special country club for a round of golf. They will meet up to play with some of his old golf buddies that belong to this club. Unlike the greens at Shadow Moss, these greens glisten with tiny specs of emeralds. The golf carts are chariots made of gold, the golf clubs are made of pure silver and the Angels are caddies. Jimmy will play the grandest round that he never could have imagined on Earth. Later he will join former teammates of the 1959 St. Andrews High School football team, where he will continue his role as captain of the team. Jimmy will never be bored at this eternal paradise. There will always be a half rubber ball, baseball or football game that he can join like he did back in the good ole days at the St. Andrews Parks & Playgrounds in Charleston, South Carolina. There is no doubt that he will be invited to umpire many of those games as he did before. In this new life of eternal rest and play, he leaves behind his wonderful family that will never forget him and always miss him. Included in his family are his ever loving wife, Gloria E. Mills, 4 children, Lisa M. Moorer, Manning B. Shaw III, (Teri Shaw), Frank Stanley Shaw (Tonya Shaw), Margaret Elizabeth Ward (Brian Ward), sister Patsy Mills Crane, (Bill Crane), 7 grandchildren and 2 great grand children. Harold James Patrick Mills (Rachel), Megan Shaw Anderson, Sarah Quinn Churchill, Manning B. Shaw IV, Noah Andrew Moorer, James Dalton Quinn, Ashleigh Shaw Kruger, James Edwin Mills, David Noah Mills plus many nieces and nephews. A gathering of Jimmy's Family and Friends for a time of reflection and sharing will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at James A. Dyal Funeral Home in Summerville. Memorial Services will be at 3:00 P.M. in the James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Crocker, officiating.
