Janice Anderson Harvey Sanders

Janice Anderson Harvey Sanders, age 77, of Summerville, SC, and previously of Saluda, NC and Greer, SC went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2023, surrounded by her children, Richard and Melissa, and her dearly loved cousins, Chris Brown and Debbie Brown Camp. Janice adored her family, flowers, birds, and all of God's creation. She also had a heart for special needs children and adults and actively served the special needs class at her church. Janice was loved by all who knew her and even in her recent illness, she was known for spreading JOY to her many friends and family, and to all those around her. Janice was born on January 3, 1946, in Saluda, NC, to the late John Owen and Ruth Thompson Anderson. In addition to her children Richard and Melissa Harvey, both of Summerville, SC, she is survived by her husband Dr. John Dixon Sanders of the home. Janice was also predeceased by her first husband Richard Lee Harvey, Sr. and her stepfather, Leonard “Pop” Solesbee of Greer, SC. Others left to cherish her memory are an honorary brother Steve “TeeDee” Hunt as well as stepbrothers Bill (Nancy) and Lane (Carol) Solesbee, a bonus daughter Katherine Sanders (Tom Halley), and bonus grandchildren Eve and Daniel Halley, and a much-loved bonus great grandchild, Abner Halley. In addition, she was predeceased by a bonus grandson, George Phillips. Janice was extremely close to her aunts and uncles on her mother's side and was predeceased by all of them (Charles, Perry, Nancy, and Carol) except her beloved Uncle Clark Thompson (Pam) who lives in Pensacola, FL, and her aunts by marriage Mary and Dorothy Thompson. There are also many other family members--sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and cousins who will remember and miss Janice's great love and affection for them. A service to celebrate Janice's life will be held on November 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church, located at 505 Gahagan Rd., Summerville. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. In honor of Janice's great heart for missions and at her request, the service will serve as an opportunity to connect with Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child shoebox collection week. Janice was passionate about this cause and often packed 100 shoeboxes herself. To honor her legacy, attendees are invited to bring a filled shoebox or items for a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child.
