Alice Louise McFalls

Alice Louise McFalls, 86, of Summerville, wife of the Late Robert D. McFalls, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 2 o’clock at St. Paul’s Anglican Church located at 316 W Carolina Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483. Inurnment to follow. Alice was born on December 16, 1935, in Clarks Summit PA, the daughter of the late George and Katharine Brittain. She was a graduate of Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. She married her husband, Robert in 1963 and they had three daughters. Alice was a member of St Paul’s Church Summerville for over 50 years, where in her later years frequently attended the Thursday Healing Service. In high school Alice played volleyball and field hockey. She was a trophy winning bowler and badminton player, and was an avid fan of most sports, especially golf, tennis, football and baseball (the Braves) – which she generally watched from her recliner snuggling with her little dog, Max. Alice loved children and taught Kindergarten in New York State and after moving to Summerville in 1970 taught Kindergarten, First Grade and Third Grade. She also served as a Girl Scout troop leader. A lifelong artist, she worked in many mediums but had a special love for knitting and crocheting. Alice loved to travel and did so extensively with her husband Bob, going to Alaska, Hawaii, and Europe. Closer to home she loved nature and especially watching the birds in her neighborhood. Most of all Alice was in love with and committed to her family, providing gentle guidance and mentorship to her daughters and granddaughters. She is survived by Daughters: Dorothy McFalls (James), Debra Chitwood (John) and Sharon McFalls; She has two granddaughters, Katharine Chitwood and Avery Johnson. She was predeceased by her husband Robert of 43 years and her siblings George, Robert, Ruth, Katharine, James, and Dorothy. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to The National Audubon Society.
