C. Lyndon “Lyn” Langley, 85, of Goose Creek, husband of Marilyn Wheeler Langley, passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 at Trident Medical Center. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 12 to 1 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home followed by his funeral service at 1 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Summerville Baptist Church, 417 Central Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483 or Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Lyn was born May 26, 1930, in Ashland, KY, son of the late Clyde Langley and Myrtle Schmauch Langley. Lyn was a Nuclear Scientist with a Metallurgical Engineering Degree from the University of Kentucky. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan and a Kentucky Colonel. While at the University of Kentucky, he was involved in Sigma Gamma, American Society for Metals and the Norwood Mining and Metallurgical Society. He began his career with Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in W. Mifflin, PA in 1955 when the Navy’s Nuclear Power program was in its infancy. Assignments along the way took him to Virginia, Idaho Falls, Idaho to the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. He retired in 1995 from the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Goose Creek. Lyn was a member of Summerville Baptist Church and the Tally Sunday School Class. Lyn loved the Lord and served in many ways; as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Director and Church basketball coach. Lyn was a Mason, P.P. of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite and York Rite. Survivors, including his wife Marilyn of 61 years, are one daughter: Mary Lynne Boline (Ken) of Charleston and one grandson: Tyler Lee Boline of Charleston, two nieces and two nephews: Janel Salinas of CA, Nancy Stanton of CA, Bill Hewitt of AZ and David Langley of PA.
