Elizabeth Moore Pate

Elizabeth Moore Pate, 92, formerly of Summerville, widow of Malcolm F. Pate, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 29, 2013 at her home in Charleston, surrounded by her loving family. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday evening from 6 to 8 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 S. Main Street Summerville. A Prayer Service will begin at 6 o’clock. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Avenue, Summerville. Rite of Committal with Final Commendation will follow at Summerville Cemetery. Elizabeth was born March 9, 1921 in Crawfordville, GA, daughter of the late John Pease Moore and Louelle Burton Moore. She was a graduate of North Charleston High School where she was Valedictorian and attended the College of Charleston. Elizabeth was a long time member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church where she served as a catechism teacher and member and past president of the Altar Society. She also volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America as a brownie and Girl Scout Leader. Elizabeth was an avid bridge player and member of the same club for over forty years. She was also an avid reader, sports fan and nature lover having a special gentleness with all animals. Survivors include five daughters: Marcia Pate Rodgers-Castano (George) of Charleston, Annette Pate (James Saunders) of Roswell, GA, Evelyn Pate Schachte (Frank) of Charleston, Lisa Anne Pate of Charleston and Laura Pate McKinnon (Neill) of Charleston, four sisters: Marcia M. Nolte of Mt. Pleasant, Louelle M. Bolchoz of Charleston, June M. Milligan (Bill) of Seabrook, TX and Mary M. Smith (Tom) of Summerville, seven grandchildren: Beth S. Jones (Chris), Bradley Rodgers, Alex Sellers, Lauren S. Karamsichani (Ali), Zachary McKinnon (Lauren), Maggie McKinnon and Savannah McKinnon and four great grandchildren: Peyton Rodgers, Abby Jones, Kayden Karamsichani and Vivienne McKinnon.
