Ellen Margaret Fulda

Ellen Margaret Fulda, age 89, passed away peacefully at her residence in Ladson, South Carolina, on March 30, 2026. Born on December 4, 1936, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Ellen was the beloved daughter of John Joseph O'Connell and Margaret Agnes O'Rourke. A proud first-generation American oflrish heritage, she carried her family's traditions with deep pride throughout her life. Ellen was a devoted wife to her late husband Walter C. Fulda and a steadfast military spouse. Together, they built a life grounded in love, service and resilience. Even after Walter's passing, Ellen continued her commitment to the military and veterans. She was a lifetime auxiliary member of the VFW Post 3433 in Summerville, SC. She served as Auxiliary President and various leadership roles in the VFW Auxiliary and Military Order of the Cootie. She found joy visiting veterans in hospital and pride of country teaching students respect and care of the American Flag. A woman of deep faith, Ellen was devoted to her Catholic beliefs, which guided her life and gave her strength and comfort. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she adored. Ellen is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bernstein (Matthew); her son, Buddy Fulda (Daphne); her brother, John O'Connell; her grandchildren, Shannon Fulda (Anthony Collins), Brenden Fulda (Danica), Kathleen Bernstein, and Erin Bernstein; and her four great-grandchildren, Owen Collins, Harper Collins, Kennedy Fulda, and Olivia Fulda. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, unwavering loyalty, and her lifelong commitment to faith, family, and service. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Agape Hospice Care for their kindness and support. Visitation and Funeral Mass details will be posted here once they become available. Ellen will be buried with her husband at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Carnation Foundation of Agape Hospice Care of South Carolina, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, or the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. Ellen's legacy of love and service will live on in all who knew her.
