Floyd William Sweat

Floyd William Sweat, 85, of Summerville, loving, devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. His faith and love in the Lord carried him through his final days with strength and hope. A true blessing and inspiration to all he met, Floyd was the definition of unconditional love. His sweet spirit will live on in all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was born February 2, 1926 in Summerville, son of the late Rufus Mallard Sweat and Mary Sweatman Sweat. He attended Summerville School and Murray Vocational School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He coached baseball for Dixie League and he sold insurance for a short period of time and was a lifetime member of Boone Hill United Methodist Church. He retired from Polaris Missile Base as a Missile Handler. A service to honor his life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2 o’clock at Boone Hill United Methodist Church, Summerville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 o’clock Friday evening. In addition to his wife, Lillian Belle Knight Sweat, he is survived by three daughters and one son: : Doris Hulsebos (Hans) of Charleston, Iris Bonanno (Sam) of Sumter, SC, Sandy King (Mike) of Suffolk, VA and Billy Sweat of Summerville, six grandchildren: Britt Seprish (Laura) of San Antonio, TX, Michelle King of Suffolk, VA, Torin Seprish of Charleston, Megan King of Suffolk, VA, Eric Hulsebos of Charleston and Dylan Sweat of Powell, TN, two great grandchildren: Lilly & Stella Seprish both of San Antonio, TX, one sister: Lessie Charpia of Summerville, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
