James Edward Green,77, of Ridgeville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in Walterboro, SC. He enjoyed a long and happy life full of adventure, joy, family, and love. James was born to John and Sarah Green on Thursday, June 6th, 1946, in Swansea, NC. He was raised alongside two brothers and one sister. James enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he was part of the Tan Son Nhut AB 460th FMS (Jet Shop). He proudly served his country and was a proud Vietnam Veteran for the rest of his years. Following his military service, he spent many years employed at Summerville Marine and Berkeley Outdoors. He married the love of his life, Meldarene Green and they raised their daughter, Julie McCrackin. They spent many memorable years together until her passing in 2005. He remarried to Claire Green and they also enjoyed their time together, until her passing in 2022. James is survived by his daughter, Julie McCrackin, son-in-law, Joseph; beloved grandchildren: Dylan and Tyler McCrackin; and numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Tom and Carroll Green; and one sister, Janice McJunkin. He was a loving, generous, humble, and heroic man who loved to share a story with anyone who would listen. Each and every story was a treasure to hear. He never met a stranger and would be the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. James was an avid fisherman and loved nothing more than spending his time with his grandsons, as well as the rest of the family, watching old Western films and TV shows. He also loved nature and the outdoors, enjoying such interests and hobbies as, fishing and boating. To each person he met, he was a fast and loyal friend. To his family, he was a true hero and an icon of love and affection. He will be greatly missed by the many people who loved him. Memorials and donations can be made to The Fisher House Veterans Foundation or The Disabled Americans Veterans Charity. A Memorial Service will be held at James A.
