Jewel Murray Myers-Knightsville Jewel Murray Myers, 94, of Knightsville, widow of Joseph Harvey Myers, Sr., passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Life Care Center of Charleston. Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation Monday evening, March 31, 2014, from 5 to 7 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday afternoon, April 1, 2014 at 2 o’clock at Knightsville United Methodist Church, 1505 Central Avenue, Summerville. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Knightsville United Methodist Church, The Jewel Myers Family Life Center Debt Reduction, 1505 Central Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483. Mrs. Myers was born May 19, 1919 in Summerville, daughter of the late Joseph Gordon Murray and Sophronia Knight Murray. She was a member of Branch Methodist Church which became Knightsville United Methodist Church when a new building was constructed on Central Avenue. She was always very active, having served on the Building Committee of the new church as well as the Building Committee of the new parsonage, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Pearl Murray Circle and various leadership roles. She organized and spearheaded the annual BBQ for many years which she delighted in doing. In recognition of her hard work and many years of service, in 2004 the new building was named the Jewel Myers Family Life Center. She delighted in doing for others and you were always welcome at her home and table. She was a Wal Mart employee for twenty years. Survivors include: three sons and four daughters: Joseph H. Myers, Jr. (Cheryl) of Summerville, Paul M Myers (Sally) of Savannah, GA, William “Larry” Myers (Margie) of Daniel Island, Marian Cone of Miami, FL, Margaret “Margie” McMillan of Charleston, Betty Patrick of Summerville, and Evelyn McMillan of Green Pond, SC, seventeen grandchildren of which seven will serve as Pallbearers: Karl A. McMillan, J. Cary McMillan (Sharon), Sean Patrick (Tammy), Brian Myers (Nicole), Jody McMillan (Marcie), Jason McMillan (Jennifer) and Justin Myers. Celeste Murray (George), Denise Patrick, Lori Miles (Gene), Tammy Gavidia (David), Debbie Shimel (Larry) Cynthia Johnson (Ward), Tom Cone (Ella), Tim Cone (Shona), Leah Gantt and Dee Dee Kellogg (Wayne) and twenty five great grandchildren, Brother in Law; Berlin G. Myers, Sr. and Sister In Law; Beatrice Murray Mackey. She was predeceased by one son; James Gordon Myers and three sons in law: Herbert Cone, David Patrick and Henry “Sandy” McMillan, Jr. and two brothers and six sisters.
