Louise Cook Snyder

On January 18, 2011, Louise C. Snyder passed away peacefully in a local assisted living facility. She had been with many in her family throughout the day and simply took an early evening nap from which she awoke in the presence of our Lord. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11 o'clock AM at Wando Woods Baptist Church, 4123 Dorsey Avenue, Charleston. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, North Charleston. Friends and family may call on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock PM at Wando Woods Baptist Church. Louise, born on October 19, 1930 in Fairfield County S. C., was the second child born to Willie and Inez Cook. Louise grew up in Charleston, S. C. where she graduated from Chicora High School. After high school she graduated from North Greenville Junior College. There she met Ray E. Snyder and on December 21, 1951 they were married. Ray and Louise lived in Barnwell, S. C. for several years before moving to North Charleston. She worked as a bookkeeper for Mr. Calhoun Lemon in Barnwell, SC, and retired after decades of service to him and his transportation companies. Louise loved cooking, and was famous for her ham biscuits. She had a sharp mind for numbers, and kept accounting records for her company, her church, and her family. Unfortunately, she had no ability to understand such abstract ideas as a joke, much to the delight of her grandchildren who loved explaining the punch lines of knock-knock jokes to her. Louise was a charter member of Wando Woods Baptist Church. Surviving are: one son: Ray Alan Snyder (Kathy) of Mt. Pleasant, one daughter: Kathy Rogers (Kenny) of Summerville, grandchildren: Megan Flowers (Paul) of Mt. Pleasant, Gene Rogers (Mandy) of Summerville, Mary Ann Shortt (Mickey) of Banner Elk, NC, William Rogers of Seneca, great grandchildren: Lynn and Timmons Flowers of Mt. Pleasant, Angela and Bethany Shortt of Banner Elk, NC, Taylor, Peyton and Kennison Rogers all of Summerville, one brother: Peter H. Cook (Ruth Ann) of Summerville, brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Janice S. and Remington Stone of Goose Creek, six nieces and nephews She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her step father: Roy Bellew.
