Mary L McLendon

Mary L. McLendon, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on August 22, 2026, just one day after celebrating her 100th birthday. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Heritage Holiness Church, located at 3836 Ladson Road, Ladson, SC 29456. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the main sanctuary. Mary was born on August 21, 1926, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, to the late Earl and Minerva Buller. She was born in the family home and was one of three children. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Horace L. Buller, who passed away in 1942, and Grace V. Buller, who lived for only nine days. Mary was married to James M. McLendon, who preceded her in death in 2008. Together, they raised five children: Faye DiFalco, James H. McLendon, who preceded her in death on June 12, 2024, Callie E. McLendon, Robert E. McLendon, and Glen A. McLendon. Mary was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Mary spent most of her life as a devoted homemaker, dedicating herself to the care and well-being of her family. She made sure there was always a meal on the table and clothes on her family's backs. Her love was expressed through the many thoughtful and selfless things she did for those she loved. Mary had a special gift for crocheting and spent many hours creating beautiful blankets for her children and grandchildren. She also lovingly made blankets for Hospice, sharing her talents with others and bringing comfort and warmth to those in need. A woman of strong Christian faith, Mary loved the Lord and sought to make her home a place where Christian values were lived and shared. She was a kind, caring, and loving woman whose greatest joy was her family. Mary leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, family, and compassion that will continue through the generations she helped nurture. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who provided love, care, and support to Mary and her family throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Holiness Church Building Fund. Mary's family will forever cherish the memories of her love, her kindness, and the many ways she touched their lives. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
