Meghan Allyssa Laurence, 21, of Hanahan, SC, passed away on Thursday, February 20th, 2025. Meghan was born on July 31st, 2003, in Summerville, South Carolina, to Matthew W. Laurence and Addie M. Smith. From a young age, Meghan demonstrated a bright and compassionate spirit, always eager to help others and bring joy to those around her. She grew up in Summerville, where she attended Cane Bay High School, excelling academically and developing close friendships that would last a lifetime. After high school, Meghan found her calling in healthcare. She worked as a dedicated patient care technician at Trident Hospital, where her caring nature and strong work ethic were evident every day. Meghan’s passion for helping others inspired her to pursue further education, and she was attending Trident Technical College, working toward earning her nursing degree. She had big dreams of becoming a nurse and continuing her journey of making a difference in the lives of others. Meghan’s personal life was centered around the people she loved most. She was an adventurous soul who cherished spending time at the beach, exploring new destinations, and making lasting memories with her family and friends. She had a love for travel, seeking out new experiences, and always looking forward to her next adventure. But the most important role Meghan embraced was that of a mother. Her daughter, Nevaeh, was the light of her life and brought a new sense of purpose and joy into her world. Meghan was a devoted and loving mother, always putting Nevaeh first and doing everything she could to give her a bright and happy future. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and Meghan’s love for Nevaeh was boundless. Meghan leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and a deep commitment to making the world a better place. She will forever be remembered for her warmth, her infectious smile, and her genuine care for those around her. Her family and friends will carry her memory in their hearts, and though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through the lives she touched and the love she gave. Meghan is survived by her daughter: Nevaeh Young; her loving parents: Matthew Laurence and Addie Smith-Griffin, her stepmom Kelly Judy; her grandparents: Arlene Laurence, Melodye Smith, Clyde and Dianne Scott; her siblings: Tyler Wilson, Katelin Smith, Payten Smith, Maddison Smith (Yeyson), Noah Laurence, Lucas Laurence, Tamer Sammour, and Ameer Samour; her nieces: Mia and Caroline; her nephews: Kaidence, Alonna, Kyzer, and Damian. Meghan was preceded by her grandfather Norman Laurence (2022). A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6pm to 8pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The funeral service will be held at the James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, beginning at 10:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485.
