Patricia Elizabeth Moran

We come together to celebrate Patricia Moran's life. Patricia Elizabeth (Nelson) Moran, 96, of Summerville (formerly of Holden and Rutland, Massachusetts), passed away at her daughter’s home surrounded by family, on January 31, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Agnes (Moran) Nelson and Einar Nelson. Patricia “Pat” is survived by her 3 children: William and his wife Marjie Moran, Sue and her husband Ron “Ronnie” Desautels, and Robert and his wife Bonnie Moran. Pat was blessed with12 grandchildren; Jerimy, Shannon, Colleen, Megan, Jessica, Jason, Joshua, Jenni, Elizabeth, Rubelsi, Ruby, and Reyna; and her legacy continues with several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law Clare Nelson of Holden, Massachusetts and Mary Moran of West Boylston, Massachusetts. She also leaves behind her many nieces and nephews, including her godson, Tim Nelson....whom she refers to as the most beautiful baby she had ever seen. Patricia is predeceased by her husband Bill, her sister Charlotte (Nelson) Daigle and brother Alan Nelson. Patricia grew up in Chaffins area of Holden where she grew up with her Swedish cousins. After high school Pat went to cosmetology school and worked in Worcester area creating hairstyles of the 40s and early 50s. She met her husband in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire while on vacation. It was love at first sight and they married in 1953. After a time, while her husband was in the Air Force, they settled in Rutland, Massachusetts for over 30 years. In 1996, Pat and Bill moved to Summerville, South Carolina, living with her daughter Sue and her husband Ron. Pat’s greatest passion was working in the yard and providing the neighborhood with beautiful floral displays. She also loved painting birdhouses made of gourds and giving them to family and friends. When Pat was 85, she volunteered with Clap Your Hands, a non-profit for children with disabilities. She made over 1,500 quality bibs for older children. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 14th, 2025, at 1:00pm at St. John the Beloved, 28 Sumter Ave, Summerville, SC 29483. Burial will immediately follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485.
