Roberta Grace Perry Hallex, 84, of Adams Run, widow of Thomas Hallex, Sr. passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, with her family at her bedside. A visitation, for family and friends, will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church, 6869 Parkers Ferry Road, Adams Run on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 5 to 7 o’clock PM. Funeral services will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 10 o’clock AM. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Roberta was born on August 18, 1930 in New York City, NY, daughter of the late George Perry and Florence Hess Perry. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Before she became too sick to attend church she was a very active member serving God in many areas including Sunday School Director, Church Training Director, Sunday School teacher, Church Training teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, different areas of WMU and Church Clerk, just to name a few. She was a homemaker. At the age of 48 she gave birth to her daughter Tricia who took care of her faithfully for the last seventeen years of her life and wouldn’t take anything in the world for their time together. Survivors include her loving and dedicated daughters: Tricia Grace Hallex of Adams Run and Danette Edwards Chubb of Jacksonboro, sons: Thomas “Hal” Hallex (Barb) of Pigeon Forge, TN and Tony Chubb, Sr. of Jacksonboro; grandchildren: Courtney Elizabeth Hallex (Shawn) of Bluffton, Matthew “Tyler” Hallex of Hilton Head, Tony Chubb, Jr. “TC” and his wife Kim of Summerville, Casey Christopher Chubb of Jacksonboro, Alaina Patrisha Brown of Jacksonboro and Kash Dewayne Brown of Jacksonboro; best friends: Ginny and John Mixson of Goose Creek and her beloved cat Alley. She was happily awaiting the arrival of her first Great Grandchild due in July. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, parents and sisters Loretta Perry Saner and Jackie Perry Clevenger. The family would like to thank Doctors Bradley Steele, Michael Spandorfer, Brent Hamilton and Joshua Hutchins for their dedicated and compassionate care over the years as well as the Chaplin’s, Sister Rosie, Nurse Pam Hardin and the ICU Staff at St. Francis Hospital for their wonderful care over the years.
