Charles E. Lichtenberger

February 2, 1935 - October 23, 2021

Charles E. Lichtenberger, 86, of Summerville, husband of Lorraine Blake Lichtenberger, died peacefully surrounded by his family on October 23, 2021 at the home he shared with his wife. Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 10am at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, Summerville. In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to Agape Care South Carolina, 2680 Elms Plantation, N. Charleston, SC 29406. Charles was born on February 2, 1935 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late Theodore and Margaret Lichtenberger. He graduated from Milford High School in 1953 and retired from Carpenter Steel, Bridgeport, CT, after 25 years. Besides spending time with his family and friends, Charles was an avid reader and a huge Atlanta Braves fan; he loved to travel and was active in the Knights of Columbus as a Faithful Navigator, Grand Knight of Tinto 47 in Milford, CT and after moving to South Carolina he became a member of Council #6629 in Summerville, SC where he served as Financial Secretary for 19 years. Charles is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of 63 years; four children: Bret Lichtenberger, Sandra Whitfield (Roger), Susan Brundige and Glen Lichtenberger (Michele), nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
