Herbert Miles Easterling Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Herbert Miles Easterling, 89, of Goose Creek, South Carolina passed away at his home on January 18, 2022. Born in Givhans, South Carolina, Mr. Easterling was the son of the late Mr. James Miles Easterling and Lurie Ackerman Easterling. Mr. Easterling was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Shirley Mae Galloway Easterling and his four sisters, Louise Taylor, Emma Dale Hyder, Thelma Evans and Billy Chinn. Mr. Easterling is survived by his two sons, Kenneth (Kenny) Easterling and wife Carol of Goose Creek, SC and Timothy (Timmy) Easterling Sr. and wife Melissa of Summerville, SC; His sister, Tina Elrod, of Goose Creek, SC; His four grand children Kenneth (Keith) Easterling Jr., Brittany Easterling, Timothy Easterling Jr., and Grace Easterling; Two great grand children Mylie Easterling and Leila Mae Stephenson. Mr. Easterling served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and the Army National Guard from 1955-1957. He was a retired Electronics Foreman at the Naval Weapons Station. Mr. Easterling was also the founder of Easterling & Evans Electric for 29 years. Mr. Easterling established the Goose Creek Rural Fire Department where he served as Chief for 10 years. Mr. Easterling was a 32nd degree mason (Goose Creek Lodge 401) and was a member of the Omar Shrine Temple, the Scottish Rite, the Berkeley Shrine Club and the Royal Order of Jesters. Mr. Easterling was an avid fisherman who especially loved catching red breasts on the Edisto River and Four Hole Swamp. He enjoyed camping with his family and spending time with his beloved dog Dino. He had an infectious laugh and brought joy to everyone who knew him. His funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 25 at James A Dyal Funeral Home at 303 South Main Street, Summerville, SC. Pastor Len Ripley will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 12-2PM on Tuesday, January 25 at James A Dyal Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral at Carolina Memorial Gardens at 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends at the Goose Creek Rural Fire Department after his burial at 907 Red Bank Rd, Goose Creek, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Mr. Easterling’s honor to the Goose Creek Rural Fire Department at 907 Red Bank Road, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
