Judy Hiott Handy Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Judy Hiott Handy, 73, of North Charleston, Wife of Ken Handy (deceased), passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, while in covid- care at Trident Hospital. A Graveside service will be held at 4 o’clock on Thursday, February 3,2022 at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, SC 29485. Judy was born on May 2, 1948, in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Windell and Doris Hiott. Judy was born and raised in the Low Country and loved calling Charleston her home. Judy and her late husband Ken owned their own business on Kiawah Island (Handy Home Care Services) for more than 30 years. Judy was a devout and passionate follower of Christ. A shining beacon for all to see as grace radiated from her personality. Judy was blessed with an adoring immediate family along with doting grandchildren and a great grandchild. More than anything, Judy loved spending time with her “grands” and “great grand”. Judy herself was the granddaughter of the late Eldon and Nethea Benton of Charleston, SC who themselves had 13 children. The Benton, Hiott and Handy family were a sight to see at family reunions and events. Judy loved to travel to the mountains of Western, North Carolina and Eastern, Tennessee. Judy called the Great Smoky Mountains her second home. Raised in the South Judy, loved Fried Chicken, Ribs, Potato Salad, Bessinger’s BBQ Onion Rings and above all Chocolate Cake for dessert. It was a long-standing, tradition to always have some potato salad and a thin slice of chocolate cake for Judy when supper was served. Judy was an amazing and loving person. A dedicated wife, sister, and friend. As far as a better mother…. THERE IS NONE. Her passing is difficult to bear, and she will be dearly missed. Solemness can be found in the fact that she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Judy is now home… and where home was always meant to be. Survivors including two sons: James Timothy Handy (Bobbi) of Summerville and William Keith Handy (Melissa) of Hampton; one daughter: Malissa Louise Ritter of Summerville; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers: Mike Hiott (Carol) of Nahunta, Georgia; and Steve Hiott (Kelly) of West Ashley.
