Mary Ann Heagerty

Mary Ann Heagerty, 79, of Summerville, wife of Daniel Heagerty, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 6 pm to 8 pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be on May 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. John the Beloved, 28 Sumter Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens at 1:00 pm. Mary Ann was born on January 6, 1943, in Farmingdale, NY, daughter of the late William and Mary Bishop. She enjoyed playing the piano, needlework, cooking and Masterpiece Theater. She was a graduate of Colorado College, a public school teacher and volunteer tutor, and a member of Teresian Sisters of the Catholic Church Group. She enjoyed nature walks and put her heart and soul into being a homemaker. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her two sons, Glen Donald Heagerty of West Ashley and Michael James Heagerty of James Island, and one sister Joan Elliott of Houston, Texas. She was predeceased by her brother, Billy Bishop. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation at nationalbreastcancer.org.
