Virginia L. Nelson, 82, of Summerville, wife of the late John David Nelson, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at her residence. Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 11 o’clock to 12 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 S. Main St., Summerville, SC 29483. A funeral service will begin at 12 o’clock. Entombment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 11000 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, SC 29485. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Intrepid Home Health/Hospice, 201 Sigma Dr. Suites 130 A&B, Summerville, SC 29486. Virginia was born on February 9, 1940 in Asheville, NC, daughter of the late Luther and Francis Naves. She was a loving and devoted wife of 59 years, a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include: Children; Marcia Nelson Goodman (Tod) of Summerville, John David Nelson, Jr. of N. Charleston, Michael Brett Nelson of Williamsburg, VA, and Maria Catherine Martin (Lee) of Summerville; Grandchildren: Thomas Mitchell Payne (Jordan) of West Ashley, Rachel Elizabeth Dirks (Tyler) of Summerville, Zackery Michael Nelson of Hampton, VA, Ryan Matthew Nelson of Williamsburg, VA, and Hannah Leigh Martin of Summerville; Great Grandchildren: Kenleigh Payne, Dalton Sloan, Beckham Dirks; and Siblings: Francis Anderson and James Naves, both of NC.
