Jacqueline “Jackie” R. Cummings-Hanahan Jacqueline “Jackie” R. Cummings, 87, of Hanahan, widow of Zaven Vance Cummings, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at her residence. Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 11 o’clock at Cypress United Methodist Church, 256 Myers Mayo Road, Ridgeville. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 o’clock. Mrs. Cummings was born May 24, 1923, in Ridgeville, SC, daughter of the late Henry Riley and Alma Eagerton Riley. Mrs. Cummings attended schools in Ridgeville, was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and was a Homemaker. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 342 W. Main Street, Kingstree, SC 29556, Alzheimer’s Association, 2090 Executive Hall Road, Ste. 130, Charleston, SC 29407 or Highland Park Baptist Church, 6211 Murray Drive, Hanahan, SC 29410. Survivors include one daughter; Phyllis Keeney (Bradford) of Simpsonville, one son; David Cummings of Hanahan, two grandsons; Chris Keeney (Renee) and Craig Keeney currently serving in Afghanistan, three great grandchildren; Kayla, Paige and Chase Keeney of Goose Creek, several nieces and nephews that she dearly loved and one loving niece Elizabeth Boyd who cared for her. She is predeceased by her son; Van Cummings, five brothers and one sister; Henry “Dutch” Riley, Bryant Riley, Cecil Riley, Ira Riley, Bernard Riley and Julie Riley Williams. A special thank you to all who took care of Aunt Jackie for many years: Julie Williams (sister) took care of her for six years before her untimely death, Reyn Williams (nephew), like Aunt Jackie wore many hats from chef to nurse to recreational and social support for all who gathered to help. Aunt Jackie was a haven to many of her nieces and nephews: Libby, Joyce, Bernardine, Bryan, Buddy, Kevin and their families. In turn, we became her haven to live in the comfort of her home. Over the years our “Granny” and “Aunt Jackie’s” legacy of caring and love for their family has been passed on to us. Her family has been blessed beyond measure.
