Janice Sheryl Canipe

Janice Canipe, 69, of Summerville, wife of Terry Canipe, passed away on December 28th, 2023. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on January 7th at James A. Dyal Funeral Home at 303 S. Main Street in Summerville at 2:00 PM. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 3:00 PM. A reception will be held at Risen Hope Church, 415 Sangaree Pkwy., Summerville, at 5:00 PM. Internment is scheduled for the following day, January 8th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC at 11:00 AM, where all are welcome. Janice was born on November 18th, 1954, in Sidney, NE to Martin (Dave) and Grace Sallstrom (Folk). She and Terry were blessed with 33 years of marriage. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her husband. In addition to her husband, Janice is survived by her children: Stacie Thrower (Daniel), Jeremy Brehm (Cheryl), Lahna Brown (Lewie), Aaron Canipe (Claudia), Philip Canipe (Ashley); her grandchildren: Benjamin Thrower, Isaac Thrower, Nathan Brown, Adrianna Pisani, Chloe Canipe, Violet Canipe, William Canipe, Verona Canipe, Bridgett Canipe, Libby Canipe, Graham Canipe; and one great-grandson, Oliver Revere-Brown; her siblings: Mary Ann McQuade (Joseph), Richard Sallstrom (Paula); 17 nieces and nephews and 72 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Grace Sallstrom; her father-in-law, Daniel Canipe; her nephew, David McQuade; and her niece, Kayla McQuade. Jan loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. She also cared deeply for those around her, as evidenced by her long, warm hugs. Jan was an avid runner. She completed one marathon, over 50 half marathons and over 100 other distance races. She and Terry traveled the United States with their children, living in Casper, WY, Sioux Falls, SD, Brighton, CO, Colorado Springs, CO, Inman, SC, and Summerville, SC. As a couple they visited Central America, Europe, the Middle East, North America, and several Caribbean Islands. In life she was a legal secretary and Information Technologies specialist. Her last job was the Chief Financial Officer for the company she and her husband owned. A memorial message may be written to the family by visiting our website at www.jamesadyal.com.
