Kiet A. Duong

Duong Anh Kiet, a son, brother, husband, father, and ong ngoai, passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2025, at the age of 63. Kiet, son of Huynh Thi Thu and the late Duong Van Be, was born on May 15th, 1961, in Rạch Giá Kiên Giang, Vietnam. In 1979, after the Vietnam war, an opportunity came from a Baptist Organization for Refugees to immigrate to America. At just 18 years old, Kiet and his younger brother, Son, bravely decided to immigrate to the United States. With a lot of uncertainties and a language barrier, they traveled for one month on a boat, stayed two months in Malaysia, and finally took a flight to Pensacola, Florida. It was there that Kiet met the love of his life, Huynh Danh. Kiet and Danh married in 1980 and were married for 45 years. In 1981 they welcomed a daughter and together traveled West to Colorado in search of new opportunities. They welcomed two more daughters in 1986 and 1988. After years of hard work, Kiet helped fulfill his wife’s dream by building a nail salon for her. Following many months of construction, they opened the doors in Denver, CO in 1992. After years of success, in 1999, they opened a larger nail salon in Highlands Ranch, CO. In 2002, Kiet helped fulfill another one of his wife’s dreams; to open a restaurant. In this restaurant they worked together as a team to share their love of their Vietnamese culture and cuisine with others. With a background in carpentry and handiwork, Kiet was known for his ability to fix anything. He could disassemble and then reassemble anything; leaving it better than he found it. He found joy in fishing, tending to his garden, and camping. He always took great pride in his work and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with loved ones. Kiet leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family: his devoted wife, Danh Huynh; his three daughters and three sons-in-law: Lan and Joshua, Linh and Isaac, and Lieu and Alex; his six grandchildren: Joshua, Oliver, Luke, Vi, Quynh, and Cam; as well as his mother Thu; and his three siblings: Tuan, Son, and Mai. A private memorial with family and close friends will be held to celebrate and honor Kiet’s life.
