Lori Ellen Jones

With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude, we remember Lori Jones, a cherished wife and mother, a devoted daughter and sister, a gentle soul, and a lifelong lover of music and animals, who passed away on August 9, 2025. She was 68 years old. Born on November 3, 1956, in Denver, CO where she lived briefly before her family returned to Michigan, she grew up in a lively home of four sisters. Their childhood home was a place where questions were welcomed, books were treasured, education was seen as a gateway to possibility and music was always playing. She was a loving wife and mother, unconditionally committed to her family and her marriage of 38 years, to her loving husband. Her laughter echoed through our childhoods, and her embrace was always home. She taught us to be kind, to be curious, and to never underestimate the healing power of a good song. She had a heart that opened wide to every living creature. Whether it was a sick cat her son brought home, or a dog needing a second chance, she welcomed them all with tenderness and care. Animals seemed to sense her gentle spirit—they trusted her, loved her, and found comfort in her presence. She attended Michigan State University, where she was the first to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from her program —a field that allowed her to care for others in the most personal way. Her early years as a hospital dietician were filled with quiet acts of service, helping patients heal not just through nutrition, but through kindness and understanding. Later, she brought her warmth and leadership to Jenny Craig, where she served as a regional director. She inspired both clients and colleagues with her belief in wellness, balance, and the power of encouragement. In the final chapter of her career, she found joy working at a local veterinary clinic, where her love for animals met her lifelong calling to care. Whether comforting a nervous pet or supporting a worried owner, she brought the same gentle spirit that had defined her life. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Trevor Jones, and her children: Lauren Rapoport (husband Matthew and daughters Rosaleigh and Camellia), Scott Jones, Lindsey Jones (wife Jill and daughters Camryn and Sammy), and Ian Jones (wife Elizabeth and children Aidan and Olivia). She is also survived by her sisters, Leigh Beith and Beth Brogan, who shared with her a lifetime of memories, laughter, and sisterhood. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Andy and Kay Kostrevagh, her dear sister, Jan LaFond, and her precious grandson Grayson Jones whose memories she carried with her always. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 15th, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00pm at James A Dyal Funeral Home in Summerville, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Dorchester Paws, in honor of her generous spirit and love for animals. As she often sang along to Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky - “When I die and they lay me to rest, gonna go to the place that's the best.” We believe she’s found that place now—peaceful, radiant, and filled with song.
