Thomas William Wolter

Thomas “Tom” William Wolter, age 76, of Summerville, South Carolina and loving husband of Patricia “Pat” Kulina Wolter, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 8th 2019. Tom was born on February 2nd, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Amadeus Frank and Genevieve Boise Wolter. He was the youngest of 6 children, three proceeded him in death, Marge Connelly, Elizabeth Paul and John Wolter. Always by her side, Tom and Pat married on May 7th, 1966. For 53 years of marriage, a foundation built on a love for God and family were faithfully followed until he was called Home. Tom loved being active in the church. He answered the calling to serve the Lord at the early age of 38. On May 16th, 1981, in Arlington, Virginia, he was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church. He faithfully served both the Arlington and Charleston Diocese. While in Virginia, he was assigned to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church followed by Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Upon his retirement and relocation to South Carolina, he was assigned to St. Theresa The Little Flower Catholic Church in Summerville, South Carolina. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom enjoyed life, family, many friends, and serving the church; “To know him was to love him.” Tom leaves to cherish his loving memory, in addition to his wife and best friend Patricia, his seven children: Christine Johnson (Rick) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jeffrey Wolter (Karen) of Harrisonburg, VA, David Wolter of Summeville, SC, Michael Wolter (Dawn) of Summerville, SC, Timothy Wolter (Kaylyn) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Kenneth Wolter (Nichole) of Summerville, SC and Catherine “Katie” Jenkins (Daniel) of Harrisonburg, VA; his 27 grandchildren: Andrew, Tanner (Tricia), Jacob, Skyler, Abner, Talbot, Piper, Tatum, Hollis, Ryan, Mikala, Kennedy, Logan, Anson, Tyler, Riley, Emory, Tristan, Sierra, Keegan, Matilda, Thomas, Gavin, Liam, Nicklas, Tilly and Beckett; one great granddaughter: Berkley; one sister: Virginia Blomquist (Don) of Minneapolis, MN; one brother: Edward Wolter (Kathy) of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11 o’clock at St. Theresa The Little Flower Catholic Church, 11001 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, SC 29485. Inurnment will follow at Mepkin Abbey, 1098 Mepkin Abbey Rd., Moncks Corner, SC 29461.
